Byron Bay wins rugby league grand final

Byron Bay has won the Retravision Northern League rugby league grand final, beating Grafton Ghosts 25-24 in an extra-time thriller at Byron Bay.

The Red Devils skipped away to an 18-6 lead but Ghosts, the minor premiers, fought back to level at 24-all by full-time.

With two minutes of extra time remaining, Byron’s Jared De Thierry kicked the winning field goal.

Mullumbimby Giants dominated the lower grades, beating Evans Head in reserves and Tweed coast in Under-18s.
