Bruce at Dave’s Bait Shop in Ballina says bream are spread through the bottom reaches of the river and a few flathead and whiting are moving back in as well as the water clears further.

Blackfish are hanging on in their usual haunts around Prospect Bridge, the Porpoise Wall and the northern ferry approach.

Some mud crabs on the move up in the creeks.

The main go has been the jewfish in the lower river and from the breakwalls, which are taking lures and bait.

A few tailor and salmon along the beaches and headlands.

Some snapper on the close reefs early this morning for those who got out before the wind sprang up.

No great heights reached at Evans Head during the week with some bream and the odd flathead along Airforce Beach and a few decent whiting and dart also cruising in the surf.

Blackfish around the walls with the odd bream and the odd whiting and some decent flathead in the river.

Not many offshore reports apart from a few reds out in 35-40m and not a good forecast for the weekend.
