Far North Coaster surf report

Great conditions today, courtesy of an east coast low.

The swell is a pumping six foot from the north-east, and there’s a light offshore.

All the ingredients are there for a good weekend of surf from Evans Head right through to Byron, with west to south-westerly winds forecast for tomorrow.

Sunday’s outlook is for the wind to swing northerly.

Marine weather:

  • Friday: W/SW winds 10/15 knots turning S/SW during the afternoon, then increasing to 18/23 knots in the evening. Sea: 1/1.5 metres rising to 1.5/2 metres later. Swell: SE 2/3 metres. Isolated thunderstorms.
  • Saturday: SW 15/25 knots early, decreasing and tending N/NE 8/13 knots in the afternoon. Sea: mostly 1/1.5 metres. Swell: SE 2/2.5 metres.
  • Outlook Sunday: N/NW increasing to 20/30 knots later.
  • Outlook Monday: W/NW 10/20 knots.
