Tony Zann’s fishing report
October 11, 2008
Snapper to 6.5kg on the 40-fathom reefs off Ballina, not many boats have been out, though, so that’s no real guide to what’s there.
No tailor are around at all but the flathead are moving in pretty well with some decent catches along the Town Reach and up a little further.
Whiting are going quite well at Pimlico with smaller fish downstream.
Bream seem to have disappeared, probably well upstream.
A few school jew to around 5kg, mostly around the walls with just a few up around Pimlico.
I haven’t been at Evans much lately but I’m told there are quite a few decent flathead in the river and the odd whiting there and along the beaches.
Beaches also have dart, bream, some flathead and the odd school jew to about 70cm.
Haven’t heard about the headlands or offshore but it looked a bit joggly out there this morning with an onshore blowing.
