2008 Australasian Pro Junior champion Stuart Kennedy has won the 2009 Ben King Easter Memorial Classic at Broken Head yesterday.

Kennedy, 19, beat fellow Lennox Head surfer James Wood, former World Tour surfer Danny Wills and Yerin Brown, both of Byron Bay, to take the title.

The event was held in messy metre-and-a-half to two-metre waves.

He posted 8.17 wave on his way to a combined total of 13.84. Wood posted 13.17, Wills 12.54 and Brown 11.84.

The open men division offered $2000 in cash along with a new board.
