Bruce at Dave’s Bait Shop in Ballina says tailor have been the big improvers over the past few days, with quite a few good catches along the beach and rocks at Lennox Head and along Patchs Beach.

Better spots are away from the river mouth where the dirty water is still coming out. Some quite good specimens up to 3kg.

Quite a few bream, whiting and blackfish in the river on the run-in tide, along with some flathead.

Best action is up to the Burns Point Ferry on the rising tide.

A few jew spun up along the walls.

Plenty of mud crabs in Emigrant and North creeks and a few not too far up in the main river.

Remember, no crab traps are allowed below Burns Point.

No offshore reports.

A beautiful day at Evans Head with Airforce Beach a picture and very popular, with around 20 4WDs from Airforce up to Broadwater rocks.

The odd fair bream in the beach holes and the surf is black with mullet, but not much in the way of predators.

A few big whaler sharks to 2.3m were caught over Easter but not a lot of jewfish, that’s for sure.

Some school jew around the headland but they’re hit and miss, along with a few bream.

Some trag and snapper caught yesterday offshore. Forecast doesn’t look too good for the weekend, unfortunately.

River is mostly fresh water form the bridge downstream, with a few bream and flathead.

Let’s hope we don’t get another 18 days of rain!
