Byron Bay, Grafton Ghosts meet in grand final rematch

Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League premiers Byron Bay Red Devils take on Grafton Ghosts at Byron Bay on Sunday in a rematch of last year’s thrilling grand final.

Byron won the 2008 decider 25-24 in extra time in a thrilling match.

The Red Devils will go into the match still smarting after a 20-10 loss to Tweed Coast Raiders, who they have never beaten, in last weekend’s weather-interrupted round.

Ghosts have not played since the previous weekend.

Both teams share the lead on eight points with Mullumbimby, who beat Cudgen in last weekend’s only other match.

Mullumbimby also will feature in a grand final replay this weekend: they take on Ballina at Ballina, where they pulled off a miraculous last-minute win in the 2007 grand final.
