Ballina opened up an eight-point gap at the head of the Far North Coast rugby union competition with a convincing 29-5 win over Wollongbar Alstonville on Saturday.

Lismore, 24-14 winners of defending premiers Lennox Head on Saturday, are in second spot on 25 points, one ahead of Wollongbar Alstonville.

Casino, 24-7 winners over Coolangatta Tweed on Saturday, are fourth on 20 points.
