Evans Head Bombers break their NRRRL duck

Evans Head Bombers have broken through for their first win in Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League, beating Lismore Marist Brothers 10-8 at Evans Head on Saturday in an NRRRL round hit by more postponements.

The weekend’s highlight match, Northern United v Mullumbimby at Lismore’s Crozier Field, was postponed until Tuesday, June 30, due to a wet field.

Also postponed was Grafton Rhinos v Kyogle (to a date to be advised).

The round six catch-up match between Marist Brothers and Grafton Rhinos has been scheduled for June 23 at Crozier Field, Lismore.

Competition leaders Lower Clarence had a tough match at home and scraped home 12-6 against Tweed Coast Raiders, while defending premiers Byron Bay had a convincing 30-0 win over Casino RSM.

In other games, Cudgen beat Ballina 30-12 at Ballina, and Grafton Ghosts had to pull out all stops to beat Murwillumbah 20-18 at Murwillumbah.
