Lennox Head move to third in FNC rugby

Defending Far North Coast Rugby Union premiers Lennox Head continued their charge for a semi-final berth with a 45-5 win over Coolangatta Tweed in a catch-up match on Saturday.

Lennox Head now hold down third spot, a point ahead of fourth-placed Wollongbar Alstonville.

In the only other match at the weekend, Southern Cross University beat Grafton 38-10.

Ballina lead the competition on 50 points, from Lismore (42), Lennox Head (37) and Wollongbar Alstonville (36).

First Grade
Southern Cross 38 (Murray Wade 2, Peato Lafaele, James Jeffress, Will Latham, Daniel Proudman tries, Joel McKenzie 3, Peato Lafaele conversions) d Grafton 10 (Simon Robertson, Scott Lloyd tries).

Lennox Head 45 (Harry Witt 2, Mathew Barnes 2, James Barnes, Sam Stewart, Matt Aherne tries, Braidon Boniface 5 conversions) d Coolangatta Tweed 5 (Haki Walker try).

Pointscore: Ballina 50, Lismore 42, Lennox Head 37, Wollongbar Alstonville 36, Casino 28, Southern Cross 27, Coolangatta Tweed 14, Grafton 10.

Under 19
