Bruce at Dave’s Bait Shop in Ballina says there have been a few bream through most of the river with some flathead in the shallows.

Blackfish in good numbers in most of the usual places like the Porpoise Wall and Prospect Bridge, bag limits commonplace.

Tailor have been pretty good along the beaches and better off the headlands. Some jewfish off the walls and headlands.

No outside reports.

I’ve been away for a week and haven’t yet had time to ask around about the fishing at Evans Head.

Friday at 1pm there was a straight southerly gusting to about 17 knots and a making swell around 2m, not conducive conditions for offshore or beach fishing.

River looks quite clean and clear.
