Northern NSW win one, lose one
October 4, 2009
Northern NSW had a mixed day today in difficult playing conditions at BCU International Stadium at Coffs Harbour for Day 2 of the FFA National Youth Championships For Boys.
In the Under 14s, South Australia scored a late goal to snatch a 3-2 victory from the Northern side, who had come back from being two goals down thanks to a double by Northern’s Jacob Montgomery.
It was Montgomery’s second double in as many days, scoring two goals in yesterday’s match against Tasmania.
In the Under 15s, Patrick Brown picked up his own double, with a goal in the 7th minute to open the scoring for Northern NSW and his second in the 20th minute.
In difficult conditions with the ground being swept by strong winds and heavy rain, Northern went on to defeat the Queensland side 5-0.
In tomorrow’s Day 3 matches, Northern NSW will play Victoria Metro at 9.30am in the Under 14s, whilst in the Under 15′s, Northern will come up against NSW Metro at 2pm.
