Tweed Heads police are calling for public assistance following the armed robbery of an elderly couple.

About 10am today (Sunday, 3 August 2008), an 81-year-old man and his wife were walking in Hungerford Lane at the rear of the Azura Apartments at Kingscliff.

A man emerged from a parked vehicle and produced a firearm, demanding the man’s watch and wallet. He then left the scene in the vehicle.

The man is described as being of white/European appearance with very fair skin, 168cm tall, thin build with thin facial features.

At the time of the incident, the man was wearing a grey hooded jacket and grey tracksuit pants.

The vehicle is described as an older style grey coloured station wagon.

The number plates were partially viewed with the letters MV and numerals 72.
