A man has been charged and will face court following the seizure of over $1 million worth of cannabis plants at Ocean Shores yesterday.

About 12:20pm, police from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command attended a house in Ocean Shores.

Whilst at the premises, officers executed a search warrant where it is alleged they discovered a large-scale sophisticated hydroponic cannabis set up in the roof of the property.

During the search police allegedly located and seized 392 cannabis plants, an amount of cannabis leaf and hydroponic equipment.

A 42-year-old man was arrested at the premises and taken to Byron Bay Police Station where he was charged with cultivating a large commercial quantity of enhanced hydroponic cannabis, supplying a prohibited drug, possessing cannabis and using electricity without authority.

He was refused bail and is expected to appear at Lismore Local Court today.

Investigations into the matter are continuing.
