The reopening of the Mullumbimby Civic Memorial Hall will be held on Saturday, September 20, from 11am until 10.30pm

Organisers say the day from start to finish promises to be a Pandora’s box of brilliant surprise performances coming out of our special community.

There has been an astonishing response by those who wish to perform at the event,  from innovative young artists to seasoned international acts, who are based in the shire.

The day will start with a welcome to country and the following few hours will give the opportunity for residents and visitors to walk through the wonderful building that has been brought to life once again.

Then after a short break there will be three hours of youth performances, including music, dance, circus and more. This will run from 2-5pm followed by a two-hour break to set up for the evening. The afternoon session will be by gold coin donation.

“We are extremely pleased that we have such an experienced and enthusiastic creative team led by Richard Vinycomb and Suzie Mylecharane and know that the grand opening promises to be a day to remember in Mullum’s history,” said Julie Brooks and Cr Peter Westheimer.

“People have been coming forward with amazing old photos of the early era of the hall and the town of Mullumbimby, as well as film footage and theatre vignettes of the colourful era when the new settlers came here in the 70s.

“We would love to have more information and especially film and  photos, from interesting activities that occurred in this venue over the years, for a display in the venue.

“For these please contact Silvana Smith 66841586 after 4.30pm or

There will also be an exhibition of local artists on display.

The official opening will occur on Friday 19th, as Member for RichmondJustine Elliott was unable to attend on the 20th, due to work commitments. More information on that to come from Council.
