Police are presently investigating three fires within the command over the weekend; one is being treated as suspicious.

A 24-year-old Newbridge Street, South Lismore, male was alerted to a suspicious noise around 11.30pm on Sunday night.

Upon attendance to his rear verandah area he sighted a small fire.

The fire was extinguished with superficial damage to the rear door being sustained.

A fire occurred between 9pm and 9.05pm on Sunday night in Milgate Close, Goonellabah, where a 39-year-old female had to be resuscitated after being found unconscious in her bedroom.

No major damage, female treated in Lismore Hospital.

Fire not being treated as suspicious.

A 38-year-old Nimbin male suffered injury to his hands where he put out a fire after he awoke in his Cullen Street Nimbin residence to find a heater had fallen over and ignited the room. The fire is not being treated as suspicious.

Ballina Police are investigating the stealing of 5 purses and handbags from shopping trolleys and persons within the Ballina area over the weekend.

Shoppers are falling victim to these offender/s who, working together, distract their victims before stealing the property.

Shoppers are warned to secure their property and not leave it sitting on top of the trolley whilst shopping.
