Inspectors from the NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing and NSW Police carried out a joint operation targeting hotels, registered clubs, bottle shops and restaurants including Ballina, Lennox Head, Evans Head, Casino and Lismore during the weekend of November 6-9.

The operation was part of the Alcohol Response Taskforce in the Richmond Local Area Command to ensure ongoing compliance with liquor, gaming and registered club laws.

A total of 27 offences were detected across the Command including three intoxicated patrons detected in Lismore licensed premises, with $1100 penalty notices issued to the licensee of each venue.

A 28-year-old female observed using drugs on licensed premises within Lismore will appear at Lismore Local Court on drug possession charges.

Eight patrons, failing to leave licensed premises, were issued with $550 penalty notices issued to the patron.

Police reported incidents clearly show alcohol is contributing to the rate of robberies, assaults, offensive behaviour and road accidents in the Richmond LAC.

The Alcohol Response Taskforce program will continue to provide additional education and enforcement resources across the Northern Rivers to improve compliance and ensure responsible service and consumption of alcohol.
