Police are preparing a report for the information of the Coroner after the death of a man following a motorcycle crash south of Nimbin this afternoon.

The crash happened shortly after 1pm on the Nimbin Road, near Coffee Camp, when a southbound motorcycle, carrying two people, appeared to go out of control on a left-hand sweeping bend.

They both were thrown from the motorcycle and the man was struck by a northbound small white hatchback carrying four youths.

The man, believed to be aged 44 from the Kempsey area, died at the scene.

A woman was airlifted to Lismore Base Hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter with multiple injuries.

Four youths in the car were shaken but unhurt.

The road was closed for more than four hours.
