The North Coast is about to get a new lifeguard co-ordinator, with Stephen Leahy accepting a new role and Scott McCartney filling the vacancy.

“In recent weeks, Surf Life Saving NSW has restructured the Lifesaving Services Department, resulting in the creation of a Manager–Australian Lifeguard Service/Chief Lifeguard which will oversee all things lifeguarding throughout NSW, particularly contracts and our relationships with all levels of government,”Mr Leahy said.

“I am honoured to have been appointed to this position.

“Unfortunately it means that I have to leave up here and head back to Sydney.

“Scott McCartney, the current Tweed Lifeguard Supervisor, will become the new regional lifeguard co-ordinator and I’m sure he will enjoy the same support that I have had over the last 18 months.

“I’ve had a brilliant time up here and have met some fantastic people and I’ll enjoy coming back on a regular basis and catching up.”
