As their website says, it’s big, it’s beefy and it’s back! After a year off to regroup, Casino Beef Week is back, celebrating the industry that is the lifeblood of the town.

And they do it in style and humour at Casino — where else would you find blokes vying for the prestigious crown of Mr Beef?

“Famous for the ‘cattle in the street’, Miss Beef Week (and Mr Beef!), Casino Beef Week celebrates both the beef industry and the community, fun, food, art, craft and more of Casino and the Richmond Valley,” organisers said.

Included in the events at the Country Energy 2008 Casino Beef Week festival are:

  • A Fashion Parade featuring top fashion labels from Casino retailers, compered by Brisbane’s Daily Mail fashion editor, Kellie Alderman
  • Bush poets in the pub.
  • Free Beef Industry Breakfast in the street
  • Country Race Meeting
  • Street carnival and parade day
  • Art, Photography and craft exhibition
  • Rodeo
  • Family fun day featuring TV’s vet, Dr Harry
  • Regional food
  • Draught horse displays and field day
  • Beef Industry seminar

There will be plenty of music, too, with Morgan Evans, winner of the 2007 Telstra Roads to Tamworth competition, heading the bill at the Casino Beef Week Sunday Session of music at the Casino RSM Club on 1st June.

And two-time Golden Guitar award winners, The McClymonts, will kick-start the Country Energy 2008 Casino Beef Week festival when they perform on the opening night.

The McClymonts show will follow a gala dinner to mark the official opening of the Country Energy 2008 Beef Week on Thursday 29th May at the Casino RSM Club.
