Police are appealing for information after the discovery of a badly-decomposed body at Southern Cross University in Lismore this week.

The body is believed to be that of missing man Jason McNamara, pictured.

The body was found about 1.30pm on Saturday, some distance from a walkway.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

Jason, 36, went missing from Lennox Head around April 17.

Jason lived in the area for some years during the late 1990s and was a member of the Lennox Head-Alstonville surf club. He was attending Southern Cross University at the time, studying for a degree in coastal management.

Jason returned to live at Lennox in February to continue his studies at the university’s school of education.

Jason was 180cm tall, with short brown/blond hair and blue eyes.

People with any information on Jason’s death should call Lismore detectives on 6626 0599.
