Twelve of Australia’s largest Professional Conference Organisers (PCOs) are staying at The Byron at Byron Resort this weekend, sampling the region’s finest tourism offerings.
“PCOs are always looking for new destinations to send their conference business to and the majority of them have never been to Byron Bay before,’’ said Stuart Amos, Conference Manager at The Byron at Byron Resort and Spa.
“It is time we showed them what their conference delegates would experience here in our magnificent region.”
The invited guests will dine on local produce at The Byron at Byron and will explore the region through visits to Bangalow Cooking School, Crystal Castle, HeART Studio, Circus Arts and the Byron Bay Golf Club.
A mini tradeshow at The Byron at Byron on Monday will showcase 15 local operators keen to access the potentially lucrative conference market to the ‘top twelve’. Operators include Byron Bay Surf School, Vision Walks and Gourmet Byron Bay Hampers.
The extensive range of adventure activities, subtropical climate, award-winning restaurants and plethora of healers and artists position Byron Bay to secure a significant share of the national conference market, according to Russell Mills, CEO of Northern Rivers Tourism.
“This event is a great example of how the local industry is working co-operatively to attract new markets at a time when it is most needed,” said Mr Mills.
