A fire that has burnt out about 150 hectares of bushland is continuing to burn in the Bungawalbin National Park, south-east of Casino.

Five crews from the National Parks and Wildlife Service and four crews from the RFS will continue to work on backburning operations today. Bulldozers are being used to strengthen and consolidate containment lines.
The Rural Fire Service says the fire is burning in remote and rugged country and there is no immediate threat to properties. Firefighters are confident of containing the fire this afternoon due to cooler weather conditions.

People in the area should continue to monitor the situation. Follow your Bush Fire Survival Plan.

If you don’t have a Bush Fire Survival Plan, ensure you know what to do in the event the fire threatens your property.
