Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault which occurred early Saturday morning in North Lismore.
Investigators have been told that a 34-year-old man was walking at the intersection of Terania Street and Bridge Street around 12:35am.
At this time he was approached by three men, one of whom allegedly began to assault him while the other two stood nearby.
The three men then left the injured man at the intersection and he was aided by a passer by.
An ambulance conveyed the injured man to Lismore Base Hospital where he is currently being treated for suspected head injuries including a possible broken nose and fractured eye socket.
Police wish to speak to a man in relation to the incident, described as Caucasian, about 6 foot or 183cm tall and wearing a white singlet.
Investigators would also like to speak to a number of people who they believe witnessed the incident, including a taxi driver and also the passer by who went to the man’s aid.
