A 22-year-old Lismore male was seriously assaulted around 8.20pm on Saturday night as he walked home along Market Street, Lismore, following the Lantern Parade.

Police are seeking any witnesses to the incident as the victim who suffers from an intellectual disability has been treated for fractures to his jaw, left wrist, bruising to his head and neck.

The incident occurred when the victim was approached from behind, being put into a headlock. He was able to break from the headlock, then was punched in the head and wrestled to the ground.

Police from Lismore are seeking witnesses to the incident to assist in their investigation.
