Richmond Valley Council is conducting Community Meetings to receive input on a proposal to unify the rate structure across the council area.

The meetings will be held as follows:

  • Monday, 7 April 2008, Evans Head Senior Citizens Hall 6pm
  • Tuesday, 8 April 2008 Woodburn Memorial Hall 6pm
  • Wednesday, 9 April 2008 Coraki Youth Hall 6pm
  • Wednesday,16 April 2008 Casino Civic Hall 6pm

Council’s General Manager Brian Wilkinson said: “The meetings are being held to give the community the opportunity to provide input/feedback to council on the unified rate structure proposal and specifically whether individuals or groups support or otherwise the proposed unified rate structure, the basis/reason for support or otherwise of the proposed unified rate structure and whether there are other unified rate structure proposals that council should consider.”

Mr Wilkinson said the council had indicated that it would be considering the unified rate structure as part of its upcoming Management Plan processes.

“The meetings give the community the opportunity to put forward their views on the matter prior to council considering the issue further,” he said.

Details of the meetings and an information sheet identifying the unified rate structure issues and the proposal on which input is sought are available from the council’s offices and website.
