A man has been seriously injured after his sedan was involved in a series of collisions with two semi trailers on the state’s North Coast.

About 12.25am, a northbound sedan has been involved in a collision with a semi-trailer travelling in the opposite direction on the Pacific Highway at Clybucca.

As a result of that impact, the Nissan Maxima sedan has gone on to hit a second truck also travelling south on the highway.

The male driver, and sole occupant of the sedan, was extricated from the vehicle in a serious condition.

Both truck drivers were treated for shock on site by ambulance paramedics.

The Pacific Highway was closed in both directions to allow police to carry out their inquiries at the scene.

One lane of the Pacific Highway reopened around 4am.
