Police have formally identified the body of a man located after a house fire at Bilambil last month.

The body of 50-year-old Luke Ogilvie was found by police inside a home on Urliup Road at Bilambil on Friday 26 March.

About 6.30am police and emergency services were called to the scene after reports of a house fire.

Upon arrival the house was found to be well alight.

After the fire was extinguished Mr Ogilvie’s body was located inside the home.

A crime scene was established and inquiries into the man’s death and the house fire are continuing.

Police from the Tweed/Byron Local Area Command with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad formed Strike Force Daruk to investigate the suspicious death of Mr Ogilvie.

“Police are continuing to investigate Mr Ogilvie’s death and are again appealing for anyone with any information to come forward,” said Tweed/Byron LAC Crime Manager Detective Inspector Shane Diehm.
