A man and a youth have been arrested following a collision between an express train and a car at a level crossing at Cedar Point near Kyogle this morning.
About 4:20am police were called to the level crossing at Studders Lane after a northbound express train collided with a blue Ford Laser.
As a result of the collision the Ford was pushed several metres off the tracks, however, the train did not derail and no damage was caused to the tracks.
Police, Fire Brigades, Paramedics and State Emergency Service volunteers attended the scene and a search of the car was conducted with no persons found inside the vehicle.
No one was injured as a result of the collision, however, the train continued to Casino where it will undergo mechanical examination.
Passengers travelling north to Brisbane were transferred onto buses for the remainder of their journey.
About 7am an 18-year-old man and 16-year-old youth were arrested at Fairy Hill and taken to Casino Police Station where they are currently assisting police with their inquiries into the incident.
Investigations into the collision are continuing.
