The talented squad concept has been developed by Netball NSW and the 11 regional academies throughout NSW in response to Netball Australia’s introduction last year of an Australian 17 and Under team.

This Statewide approach will ensure that current 15-year-old girls from the North Coast and other areas of NSW will have a structured development pathway that identifies and develops those with the most potential to progress to higher level State squads, and ultimately, the Australian 17 and Under team.

Once selected, the NCAS 15s squad will train with its current squad in preparation for the 2008 NSW Netball 15TAP Tournament to be held in late October 2008 in Sydney between the 11 Rrgional Academies and metropolitan tTeams.

This tournament will be used to identify and select a squad who will become members of the Netball NSW 15s Talented Athlete Program.

Additionally, Netball NSW selectors will, from their observations made at this tournament, and their player review notes made at the State Age Championships, select three specific development squads, namely the 15 Years Talent Identification Squad, the Highly Commended Squad and the Tall Timbers squad.

Applications close on Friday, August 15, and must be made on the specific application form available from www.ncas.org.au http://www.ncas.org.au
