Almost 200 children from Years Three and Four attended the third Plateau Cup at Hill Park, Wollongbar, which is organised by Summerland Australian Football League junior club Plateau Power.

The children played a series of round-robin games.

Each team played five games and there was some hard-fought battles, with every team improving its skill level.

In all 19 teams from schools in the local area including St Joseph’s Alstonville, Empire Vale Public, Rous Public, Fernleigh Public, Broadwater and Wyrallah Road competed, with Wyrallah Road Public running out the eventual winners.

The day was made even more exciting with the involvement of the ‘inflatables’, a series of inflatable skill stations that allowed children to develop their AFL skills.

With continued sponsorship from NAB Alstonville, Taffy’s, Coles Alstonville and Tip Top and the support of AFL Queensland , NBN and Prime TV, the number of schools is set to increase in March 2009 when Plateau Power will run its next Plateau Cup.
