Bruce at Dave’s Bait Shop in Ballina says whiting should be the go up around Pimlico on bloodworms on the big run-up tide in the mornings.

A few flathead in the lower reaches and in North Creek.

Whiting, flathead and dart on the beaches are going OK.

Some quality tailor being caught at night on South Beach and off Black Head on slab baits.

There have been some snapper on soft plastics on the 32-fathom reef.

Mud crabs a little quiet with Emigrant Creek the best of a slack lot.
 
Evans Head has been a bit quiet on the big tides with not much sand between the water and the beach dunes of a morning.

Some bream and the odd whiting and dart along the beaches but it’s been a bit tough, mainly because the water has dropped a couple of degrees in the past few days.

Some flathead and whiting in the river and a few school jew and bream around the rocks.

Offshore has been a bit sloppy for the past few days but there were a few snapper and trag around before that.

Here’s hoping we get enough south-easterly to blow the warm water back in, because there were a few early mackerel in it about 10 days ago.
