Lismore Daleys 43 d Casino Tatts 29

Clarence Coast 31 drew with Ballina RSL 31

Byron 2481 41 defeated Grafton DEX 35

The wild weather late on Saturday afternoon did not prevent the completion of round 3 games in the Far North Coast Premier Netball League

Lismore Daleys are in outright first place after their convincing win over Casino Tatts.

Regional Co-ordinator Leslie Kirk said: “The game began at a hectic pace with Lismore settling first with their shooters finding consistency early and they maintained this throughout the game.”

“Casino lacked drive through the mid court, often unable to convert some great defensive intercepts into points.

“Lismore’s defensive combination is a consideration that all coaches will need to counteract.”

Extremely windy conditions in Ballina saw Ballina RSL and Clarence Coast play to a draw.

Ballina got out to an early lead, adapting to their home ground conditions quickly and were well in front by 9 goals at half-time.

Nerida Donges, Coast’s coach. said: “With determination the Coast team’s defence of Karlen Holloway and Bridgette Birchall helped pull back this deficit to within three goals at three-quarter time.

“It was really exciting, nailbiting finish as they continued with this tight defence in the last quarter denying Ballina’s shooters the ball.

“This, combined with precision passing into the Coast shooters by Ashlee Hirst, proved that our team has the stamina to succeed.”

Due to a sudden hailstorm the game in Grafton was moved to the indoor stadium where Byron 2481 came away with their first win for the season in a close encounter with Grafton.

Cathy Walls, President of Grafton Netball Association, said: “It came down to the last ten minutes of play where Byron’s centre court broke three of Grafton’s centres in a row. They were able to go on and convert these into winning points.”

Next week’s round four draw sees Ballina All Saints at home to Lismore Daleys with the game to start at 3pm.

Clarence Coast will host Grafton DEX at Maclean with game to start at 2.30pm and Byron 2481 will host Casino Tatts at 4pm at the netball courts in Mullumbimby.
