Junior AFL played the preliminary finals today with some excellent games at Wherrett Park in Maclean.

First games to be played were the u/12s between Lismore Swans (4th) and Maclean Eagles (3rd) on the ladder. This was followed by the Tweed Tigers (1st) against Byron Magpies (2nd).

The Tweed Tigers were undefeated all season and are the minor premiers for the 2009 season(again).
 
U/12s.

In the u/14s, the games were between Byron Magpies (3rd) and Maclean Eagles (4th) and then Lismore Swans (2nd) against Ballina (1st).

The clubs in 2nd, 3rd and 4th were all on equal points with only the percentages separating them.

In the major preliminary game the Ballina Bombers had only lost 1 game all season and that had been to Lismore.

Lismore won to earn a week’s rest to concentrate on the Grand Final to be played on the 20th September at Bangalow.
