The big news in Far North Coast rugby union this week is the selection of two FNC Schoolboys to play for NSW Schools in the Novotel Australian Schools Championships in Canberra at Viking Park, starting on July 8.

They are Alstonville High’s Joel Crowther, who will represent NSW Firsts, and Grafton High’s Bryce Speechley, who will represent NSW Seconds.

Good luck to both!

Meanwhile, it may only be cacth-up round with just two games in FNC seniors this weekend, but they will be high-quality matches.

Lennox Head are at home to coastal rivals Ballina in what should be another keenly fought local derby, while Lismore host Wollongbar Alstonville.

All of this weekend’s combatants are in the top five, with Wolllongbar Alstonville joint leaders on 37 with Coolangatta Tweed.

Lennox are next on 34, followed by Lismore on 30 and Ballina on 26.

Pointscore: Coolangatta Tweed 37, Wollongbar Alstonville 37, Lennox Head 34, Lismore 30, Ballina 26, Grafton 24, Casino 22, Southern Cross 12, Yamba 10.
