Being surrounded by National Park, the village enjoys an undeveloped atmosphere, retaining it’s quaint charm and minimalist existence. You will not find large crowds in the area, with the village remaining somewhat under the radar of the tourist areas.
There are two clubs in the town which support a number of live music acts through the year. There is also a large bowling community which hosts a number of events.
Throughout the year, the town enjoys a strong sporting community, with all major sports represented.
The fishing conditions in the area are excellent and offer all types of fisherman the opportunity for great catches, whether on the river or out into the ocean.
For the visitor to the town, the beaches are patrolled during summer and offer safe swimming conditions, there is also a vehicle access beach starting from Air Force Beach.
The town plays host to an aviation festival during the year, and is home to a functioning airport which hosts many varied types of aircraft.
